Welcome to Interfriends, a site that, I trust, will be of interest to you, our International friends in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
I am a pastor in the Ann Arbor Christian Reformed Church (AACRC) located close to the North Campus of the University of Michigan. Our church offers many different programs and services for International students, post-docs, and visiting scholars.
Having lived in Argentina for over 11 years, I think that I have some sensitivity to the excitement and the challenges of living in a different place with its strange cultural practices and assumptions. I hope that we can discuss some of them.
Making new friends in a new country is a wonderful opportunity for you and a great experience for those of us who live here. We will try our best to make such friendships possible.
The intellectual, artistic and social opportunities that accompany university life are many, varied and exciting. I hope to highlight and celebrate some of those opportunities with you.
Questions of life’s meaning, of our own personal significance, of the existence of so much violence and suffering in our world should also be raised in the university setting. Perhaps we can share our insights into these and other issues too.
