GEMS Zoo Snoozin

On January 29, twenty-five of our GEMS, counselors, and GEM’S moms headed to the Toledo Zoo for a sleepover event called Zoo Snoozin’. We got to see the zoo and its inhabitants after hours, which meant up close and personal. Our zoo guides taught us a lot about different animals, and we had an animal training session with one of the zoo keepers. We got to make enrichment toys for the elephants, birds and polar bears, and best of all we got a good night’s sleep in a room full of tropical birds. Saturday morning we had another great before-hours tour of the zoo, and the chance to see the animals using and eating the toys we made for them. It was a terrific program, and a fantastic experience.
