JAARS/Wycliffe

Madelyn Beltz
Waxhaw, NC

Madelyn serves in the technological arm of Wycliffe known as JAARS. She works in a department that specializes in reaching people who either can’t read for one reason or another, or who simply would rather get their information via non-print media instead of by reading. These non-readers are called “oral learners.”

There are currently a lot of changes going on within the organization. One of the changes affecting her is a hold on the website she has been working on. Decisions need to be made about software that could be used by us and other departments.

She has retained her position as department prayer coordinator, but has switched from website work to editing the department newsletter. It goes by email to about 200 addresses around the world, providing both technical and non-technical information to help people reach unreached people groups, the large majority of which are oral learners. She sees this as an important job as the organization changes and needs to inform its members and other mission agencies about changes that may affect them in their media work with us.
